Logbox - S.C.Eston Review

(Book Cover Sourcewww.sceston.ca)

Hello Readers...

Recently while going through many books, I was thinking about a different kind of people who are more interested in writing a short stories rather than writing a full fledge novel. So I went through searching many short stories and stumble upon this one...this one looked interesting so I went ahead with reviewing this and here is what I feel after reading this book:

Here is a brief synopsis of the book:

"Logbox is a Sci-fi short story that provide a glimpse into the darker side of the world of Garadia. Nethu's life is an endless cycle of mining the asteroid, day after day, with no respite. But then, a new prisoner comes, and she gives him a present he doesn't want...a LOGBOX."

The first thing that caught my attention was the cover of this book. The cover is simply fantastic and since "S.C.Eston" himself has made the cover of this short story...so kudos for that.

Now coming to the actual content of the book, the story or rather the idea of the short story seems interesting. The best portion of the book is definitely the epilogue section. The beginning of the book just feels distorted. I mean the book grabs your attention for a while but loses the reader after some time. The beginning I feel is like scrambled pieces of the puzzle where I was constantly trying to make sense but just couldn't. On the contrary, the epilogue is actually the selling point of the story. It was like the missing piece in the puzzle, which connects the dots which I was constantly trying right from the beginning.

In my frank opinion, I feel the beginning of the story could have been much better, which could have made this thing an interesting read. So, if I have to rate it, I will five it 2.5 out of 5 stars. Still if you want to get the book, I will leave a link below from where you can download this book for free.

Sunshine And Tears - Ruth O'Neill Review

(Book Cover Sourcewww.goodreads.com)

Hello Readers...

I would like to express my gratitude to the author of the book "Ruth O'Neill" for providing a copy of this book for review. Sunshine And Tears is a romantic novel based on true story  about the ill effects of alcoholism. Here is the synopsis of the book:

"Could you fight the demons that lie within? Sunshine & Tears is based on a true story. After Rosie is being stood up by "Jack the Lad" Jay, she agrees to go on a shopping trip with her sister. Jackie, Rosie unexpectedly meets the man of her dreams, Garry. This starts a sequence of events that will change her life forever. The young couple begin a fairy-tale romance, bath looking forward to building a idyllic future together. But when financial and economic difficulties threatens to tear them apart, shy naive Rosie suddenly has to find the strength to keep everything together. Fueled by alcohol, Garry turns into someone Rosie doesn't recognize anymore. Can Rosie help Garry and bring him back from the depth of despair and self-destruction? Their love had been deep and unconditional but will love alone be enough to give Garry and Rosie the future they had always longed for? Romantic and heart breaking- Sunshine & Tears chronicles the destructive power that alcohol can have on people's lives."

Sunshine And Tears is a two part book where the first part focuses on the happy and pleasant aspects of a relationship between Rosie and Garry and is being termed as Sunshine while the latter part focuses on the turbulence's and rifts which takes place due to the alcoholic nature of Garry and is called Tears. Thus Sunshine And Tears focuses on the pleasant, beautiful and romantic phase as wll as the turmoil and the clashes which happen due to the bad old habits of one of the partner leading to a very unpleasant phase in a relationship.

In Sunshine And Tears, the author "Ruth O'Neil" have very well written a heartwarming story of the struggle a alcoholic family goes through for bringing their loved one out of his dreadful disease. Ruth brought a sense of life to his central character Rosie and all the characters feels real and genuine while reading the book. What I really like is that Ruth has successfully managed to portray Rosie as a powerful women who wants to be with her love of her life even in their difficult times without compromising on her self-respect and integrity. All the scenes are exceptionally written and you immediately connect with the characters and the story.

For me personally, the first part seems normal, which you can expect in any romantic novel. Don't get me wrong, the writing and narration of the story is great and Ruth has done a fantastic job, its just that you can predict what is coming up in the first part. I really like the second part though. You simply can't keep the book off while you are reading the second half of the book. You will get emotionally connected with the characters and the you will actually feel sorry for Rosie while reading the second half. The last chapter is definitely my favourite part which will leave you emotionally drenched and sobbing fofr Rosie.

I really wished if Ruth could have made the first half slightly better by making it slightly non-predictable. This book will be a treat for all Romantic Novel readers. Nevertheless, this book is simply which you can't keep down. This book also shreds light on what real and unconditional love is, which people in this materialistic world are finding it difficult to find. So If I have to rate this book, I will give it 4 out of 5 stars. If you wanna buy this book, I will leave a link to the amazon below:
